St. Andrew's Society

The St. Andrew’s Society promotes Scottish heritage throughout the Tallahassee community. John MacKay Shaw and Angus Laird established the society in 1976.  Shaw presided as their first president from 1976 – 1977. Shaw also wrote pamphlets for the society and attended their annual celebration of Robert Burns’ birth.  The members of The St. Andrew’s Society have added their Scottish books to the FSU library collection over the years. In fact, the society gave FSU a first edition copy of a book by Robert Burns. The society also promotes donation to the John MacKay Shaw Collection on their membership form.
